The Okolehao Trail

"The goal isn’t to be great, the goal is to be better."

One of the greatest things I learned from climbing The Okolehao Mountain Trail in Hawaii, is that there is always another peak - even when you don’t think you've made it to the top. This particular trail was not a constant ascent to a singular peak, no, it was a trail with many peaks reaching higher and higher. Just when you think you've finally made it up the mountain, you see in the distance a new summit - a new goal. I think it’s a great metaphor for life and business.

And the funny thing is, half the people turn back after he first peak, and very few go on to reach the final peak. But in life, there is no final peak. It's a constant climb towards a new achievement. You reach one peak, briefly enjoy the view, then cross the next chasm.

No matter what your mission in life is, learn to enjoy the hike.

Hey I'm Nick Matzan. I'm an artist and entrepreneur from Upstate NY. I've been creating artwork for over 10 years and in the digital marketing space for over 4 years.


My north star has always been to make money through a laptop doing what I'm passionate about and find fulfilling.
